SWTOR Dromund Kaas Yellow Matrix Shard Location Guide

The Yellow Matrix Shards are remnant relics of the Infinite Empire and no longer useful. Once they were used to create your first relics at the game's launch. Now it's simply part of the Datacron Master Achievement along with codex: Galactic History 18: The Hutt Cataclysms. There are 5 Datacrons in total located on the planet of Dromund Kaas.

Datacrons are collectables scattered around the galaxy in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Each Datacron contributes towards your Legacy's passive stats permanently. Furthermore, they also provide interesting Lore and Codex Entries about the Old Republic era.

Starting coordinates: -8, 1656.

This Datacron is located in the Heroic area directly right of Grathan's Estate - The Malignant Bog. You will start close to a named Champion boss called Dr. Pammel Tarqus, where the entrance to the path is guarded by an elite Gundark and a strong Sleen. You can easily bypass them without stealth, if you hug the wall.

Simply follow the path to the end until you see another Champion NPC called Yozusk Platesmasher, which is part of both the Beastmaster of Dromund Kaas and Tyrant of Dromund Kaas achievements.

When you reach this open area you will find the Datacron to the right on top of the waterfall.
This will grant you a Yellow Matrix Shard, which is no longer useful, but is simply part of the Legacy achievement towards Datacron Master, along with the codex: Galactic History 18: The Hutt Cataclysms.

This datacron holds unheard of power and knowledge collected by an ancient race. You access its power and discover writings which are clearly only one small piece of a massive galactic history:

Since its victories against the forces of the Tion Cluster, the Hutt Empire had continued to expand its influence. It now controlled dozens of systems, and the Hutt criminal enterprises extended even into Republic space.

But the greed of the Hutts was insatiable, and their long life spans meant grudges could be carried for centuries. Rivalries became open hostilities, until their entire empire was embroiled in the "Hutt Cataclysms," a series of conflicts that saw devastating weapons unleashed on Hutt-controlled worlds.

When the cataclysms ended, the Hutt homeworld of Varl and hundreds of Hutt colonies had been rendered lifeless. Seeking a new homeworld, the Hutts began relocating to the planet Evocar, slowly buying parcels of land from the Evocii people. Eventually, the Hutts owned the entire planet, which would later be called Nal Hutta--or more often, simply "Hutta," the "Glorious Jewel."
